About me

I have always searched for the tango. Perhaps because my dad used to wake me up every Sunday morning listening to Julio Sosa. Perhaps because my grandfather danced it. Perhaps because I was born in Paysandú, very near Tacuarembó, Gardel´s birthplace. Perhaps because it has been with me since I was born. Perhaps ……perhaps since before……perhaps……and very likely.

The fact is that, for many years already, the tango has been my excuse, my partner, my reason, my strength, my goal, the way I walk every day. My search started trying to reveal its mystery, which is not so, because, far from revealing, its mystery grows deeper and deeper and, the closer I get to it, the further if moves and the more intriguing it becomes.

I had a tutor that taught me the final goal of the tango is a game between a man and a woman, it is an encounter. He taught me that the tango is a way to freedom, in which a man and a woman share and play and enjoy and get passionate and love each other and feed from it and depart till the next tango…..with another man and another woman……or with the same……..This tutor is Rodolfo Dinzel, to whom I was very close and from whom I learnt so much for many years.

Now, having gone fairly deeply into the tango technique and shape, my search is focused on finding my own way. Now I search for a more ambitious goal, the message with which to fill it in. My way at this time focuses on the tango on the stage, on giving my tango to other people that reflect on it, that receive it and feel whatever they want and need to feel with it. Now I want to share it with people because I need to do it. And, therefore, my search changes direction and it asks me what I want to say with my tango, what I want to transmit, what I want to use such a powerful tool for…………..
